Corrections
When Not Not the News gets a material fact, quotation, attribution, or description wrong, we correct it promptly after verification. We do not silently rewrite substantive errors. The affected Coverage Case or Frame Note receives a dated notice explaining what changed, and the action is logged on this page. Typographical or formatting fixes that do not change meaning may be made without a notice.
To challenge a Coverage Case or Frame Note, email [email protected] with its URL, the passage at issue, and the strongest available supporting record. Readers and covered outlets are equally welcome to write.
Correction
A factual error is repaired. A dated Correction notice on the affected piece states the error and the corrected information; the same action appears here.
Clarification
Accurate wording that could materially mislead is made clearer. A dated Clarification notice states what was clarified and why; the same action appears here.
Update
Material information that emerged after publication is added without presenting the earlier piece as erroneous. A dated Update notice distinguishes the new information from the original record; the same action appears here.
Withdrawal
A Coverage Case or Frame Note whose central evidentiary basis is unreliable and cannot be repaired is withdrawn. Its URL remains available with a prominent, dated Withdrawal notice explaining the reason; the same action appears here.
Record
Withdrawal · The quarter-million left out the 185
The earlier case inferred that Newsmax omitted Nevada's later figures from a search extract rather than a complete article. The September 5 audit could not recover the full report, and its quoted potential four-state total is not contradicted by Nevada's confirmed-so-far subset. The essay, Receipts, evidence card, and outdated Audio Brief have been removed. This withdrawal records an unsupported coverage allegation; it does not determine the final number of ineligible registrants.
Update · The quarter-million left out the 185
· Withdrawal
Reassessed on September 6, 2026; the September 5 withdrawal remains in effect. Fresh searches, archive checks and a browser visit did not recover the complete original Newsmax report, so its alleged omission remains unverified. Recovered DHS correspondence says 185 was a partial manual-review result, not a reduction of 15,903, and could include people who are citizens now. A different recovered Newsmax report contains neither disputed number and cannot verify the original allegation. The obsolete Short has been replaced with a withdrawal handoff; no Audio Brief accompanies this entry.
Clarification · The Post Was Real. The Attack Was Not Established.
· Frame Note
The evidence label now identifies attributed reporting and the outlet’s own AI and verification caveats, rather than operational verification. Its article establishes its wording, not whether Kharg was attacked; the image description no longer claims a video is visibly playing.
Clarification · On Paper, Everybody Won
· Frame Note
The Evidence Status and source role now identify attributed military accounts, with damage and complete interception unresolved. The archive family reflects sequencing and emphasis; an intercepted attack can still be an attack. The image description was also corrected to match the illustration.
Update · The Announcement Came Before the Policy
· Frame Note
This Frame Note concerns the August 28 preview. A September 4 order subsequently directed USDA to expand lawful access for eligible products and report on remaining barriers; it did not grant blanket interstate-sales permission. The Evidence Card now distinguishes that later record from what was unresolved on August 28, and a dated follow-up links the new order and Coverage Case.
Clarification · A Prompt Is Not a Shutdown
· Coverage Case
The Evidence Status now identifies the August 27 research extraction as the basis for the quoted Opinion wording. Later access did not recover that list; the case concerns the preserved version and does not claim the current page still contains it. The Audio Brief was removed because its opening asserted that nobody had changed the settings, which the reviewed record does not establish.
Clarification · A friendly interview is not a pardon
· Frame Note
The Specific Operation and archive family now describe reunion framing alongside a pending pardon request. The former clemency-context omission label overstated the observation; the cited coverage included the request and establishes no bargain.
Clarification · The Army Is Ending an Experiment. Its Public Handoff Is Still Unclear.
· Frame Note
The discovery metadata now preserves the announced future sequence: complete the exercise, submit findings, then refocus. Earlier metadata incorrectly described the return and transfer of lessons as completed. The evidence status now identifies the announced phase-out and unresolved handoff.
Clarification · Forty Trillion Is a Milestone, Not an Explanation
· Frame Note
The discovery title now describes the comparison of interest costs and presidential periods. Its previous claim that coverage blurred measures and responsibility overstated the evidence; the essay does not establish numerical substitution or sole presidential causation.
Clarification · A Request Is Not a Ruling
· Frame Note
The context now states that no grant of relief appeared in the reviewed reporting. The unavailable primary filing and disposition do not support an unqualified claim that no court had granted relief.
Clarification · Dearborn still had an agenda
· Frame Note
The Specific Operation now describes the contrast between rally confrontation and the municipal response. The former label, Spectacle substitution, overstated the framing observation; ordinary city business does not contradict reports of tension.
Update · The clock is loud. The power is quiet.
· Frame Note
Withdrawn on September 3, 2026 because the original evidence archive was unavailable. Reinstated on September 6, 2026 as a substantially rewritten Frame Note after fresh research recovered coverage and the July 20 proclamation. The replacement acknowledges that the BBC gave the deadline’s origin and other reports explained Section 338; it drops the broad claim that coverage hid the law. This is a historical examination, not a statement of current tariff rates. The withdrawal remains in Corrections.
Update · The licenses came early
· Frame Note
Withdrawn on September 3, 2026 because the original evidence archive was unavailable. Reinstated on September 6, 2026 as a substantially rewritten Frame Note after recovering the complaint, FCC records and coverage. The replacement credits reports that covered the booking allegations and does not treat those allegations as proven effects or accuse the press of uniformly omitting them. The withdrawal remains in Corrections.
Update · The Wolverhampton bus station doctrine
· Frame Note
Withdrawn on September 3, 2026 because the original evidence archive was unavailable. Reinstated on September 6, 2026 as a substantially rewritten Frame Note after fresh source research. This examines the August 18 encounter using the currently available reports, including the Independent’s August 19 version; it does not reconstruct that report’s original version or restore the earlier essay wholesale. The withdrawal remains in Corrections.
On , Not Not the News withdrew three Coverage Cases whose original Evidence Packets and source-verification archives were unavailable during a review against the current evidence standard. Their essays and Receipts were removed rather than reconstructed after publication. The withdrawals record an evidence failure; they do not establish that the former essays' claims were false.
